Darin Mcfadyen, known professionally as FreQ Nasty, is an internationally renowned music producer and DJ considered a pioneer of the Breakbeat and Bass music genres. Born in Fiji, raised in New Zealand and formed musically in the electronic music revolution of London in the late 90’s, his ‘Boomin Back Atcha’ single was a defining moment in what was to become the global Breakbeat movement.

He has since collaborated with a diverse range of artists including Santigold, Bassnectar, Switch, Fatboy Slim , Professor Green, Kelis (‘Milkshake’ official remix), KRS One, Rodney P and Roots Manuva. He was asked to mix #42 of the Fabric Live series, the acclaimed Fabric night club mix series, and his live sets are known and loved for being a breathtaking mix of mind-altering sonics and body moving subs that traverse forward thinking sounds from across all genres and tempos.

As an early partner of music tech startup SUBPAC he has been a key figure in the development of the Physical Audio technology that has revolutionized music and VR sound design and production.

An extensively trained meditation teacher in both the Tibetan Buddhist and Theravada traditions, he leads music based meditation, yoga, and sound healing experiences around the globe and has become a fixture amongst North American art and music festivals, most notably Burning Man. His interdisciplinary body of work has, at its core, the conviction that music is a universal instrument of healing, connection, and a powerful catalyst for personal and collective transformation.
